Aims of HIEC

HIEC NE aims to align itself with the vision of formal partnerships between NHS organisations, academia and industry allowing the opportunity for education, service and innovation to come together to ensure effective and timely implementation of new developments in healthcare.  HIEC NE functions as an independent portal and source of support maintaining links between organisations that promote and benefit from, innovation.

Our Mission
To drive up the quality of healthcare in order to continually improve patient care, safety, outcomes and experience in the North East region.

Aim 1
‘To develop cross sector collaborative partnerships to draw upon and share the wealth of skills and experience in the North East region’

We will achieve this by ....
 Establishing a Board and Advisory Group with representation from a wide variety of partners and organisations across NHS, academia and industry
 Engaging with a series of projects with a breadth of partners
 Facilitating relationships between organisations across sectors
 Developing a Communications Plan that spreads key messages directed towards a wide range of stakeholders


Aim 2
‘To support high quality healthcare education and training to further develop the skills of the workforce’

We will achieve this by ....
 Engaging with partner organisations that manage workforce planning, workforce development, curriculum development, and quality assurance
 Engaging with partner organisations about new policy developments with regard to healthcare education and training 

Aim 3
‘To disseminate innovation in healthcare by accelerating the translation and adoption of research and innovation, and quickly bringing the benefits to patients and NHS organisations’

We will achieve this by ....
 Supporting projects across three themes that promote innovative education and training; innovative technologies; and innovative ways of delivering services
 Directing project outcomes to specific partner organisations and networks so that adoption and best practice can be spread across the region
