‘Using Simulation to Enhance and Improve Education’
Friday 27th and Saturday 28th April 2012
Clinical Skills Centre, Ninewells Hospital, Dundee
ASPiH and Laerdal have announced a joint regional simulation meeting to be held in Scotland which will highlight how simulation has been developed, integrated and evaluated in current undergraduate/pre-registration/emergency service education. The event will bring together colleagues from diverse healthcare and educational backgrounds to share their experiences. A wide range of workshops are planned to encourage the development of working partnerships, research collaboration and the sharing of expertise between professionals. The following keynote speakers ahve been announced:
• Dr Anne Lippert, Deputy Director Danish Institute for Medical Simulation (DIMS)
• Mr Tim Draycott, Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist and Senior Lecturer in Obstetrics & Gynaecologist, University of Bristol
As this meeting is in Scotland there will be a Conference Dinner and Ceilidh at the Apex Hotel, City Quay, Dundee on Friday 27th April starting at 7.30pm. All delegates are invited to attend the dinner. Additional cost applies.

Integrated Care Solutions: Implementation of Telehealth and Telecare
Tuesday 1st May 2012, 9.00am – 4.00pm
Centuria Building, Teesside University
The purpose of this conference is to learn from organisations how Telehealth and Telecare have been implemented on a larger scale and the impact this has had on care delivery.
It will provide the opportunity to share experiences on good practice and reflect on how similar approaches can be adopted.
The emphasis will be on collaborative working with regard to establishing networks and connectivity across health and social care with the prime objective of ensuring that there are clear and well supported pathways of care for service users and their carers.
It will also be important to listen on how the technologies have and will support our main objective of establishing an integrated care solutions framework in this area.
The conference is aimed at Chief Executives of NHS and local government organisations, clinical commissioning groups, service managers, information technologists and system developers, clinical and departmental leaders, service users.

People with Experience Workshop: Giving Voice to Experience Through Creative Words

This half day workshop is free of charge and is intended for colleagues to develop skills in creative writing and produce material for health and social care education.
The aim of this workshop is to engage with a number of writing exercises to explore shared experiences of health and social care. Working in small groups participants will work together to produce either short poems or short stories that capture key moments/messages from these experiences. We will explore the language we use and their meanings in a supportive and creative space.
This workshop will be facilitated by Sue Spencer, Writer and Senior Lecturer, School of Health, Community and Education Studies, Northumbria University. Sue works with staff, students and a range of agencies on creative writing skills development.
This workshop will be of interest to service users, carers, clinicians, managers, academics and researchers in health and social care. Participants will have the opportunity to respond to exercises that help generate creative work.
