North East and North Cumbria apply to become an Academic Health Science Network

In response to the recent announcement by the Department of Health to create 'Academic Health Science Networks (AHSNs)', the North East and North Cumbria have submitted an application to become an AHSN.

NHS Innovations North

NHS Innovations North is a regional hub providing a service to the NHS and local small and medium enterprises (SMEs) across the North East to support the development and commercialisation of innovative ideas. They offer a wide spectrum of expertise from concept development, intellectual property management, market research, business support, licensing agreements and sourcing of commercial partners to produce new products and technologies.

HIEC North East will work closely with NHS Innovations North to ensure there are collaborations which support health innovation to flourish and spread across the North East region. The graphic below highlights the functions of each organisation and the interface for creating a seamless transition between the identification and production of innovative products, and the spread and dissemmination of proven innovations across the region.

NHS Innovations North and HIEC NE have now formed a formal partnership to develop and deliver 'The Innovation Pathway North East'.
