The government has announced £4 million of funding for businesses to develop cutting-edge ideas to address some of the biggest health problems of our time.
Formed in 2009 through the merger of the National Association of Medical Simulators (NAMS) and the Clinical Skills Network (CSN) the overarching goal of ASPiH will be to enable wider sharing of knowledge, expertise, and educational innovation related to simulated practice across the healthcare professions.

ASPiH organises an annual conference and a number of Special Interest Groups. The purpose of the Special Interest Groups is to encourage communities of practice to come together to share and develop ideas relating to aspects of clinical education and promote innovation. West Midlands Central HIEC (WMC HIEC) set up a working group to look at the development of accreditation standards for healthcare simulation. The group met on 30th September 2011 bringing together people from around the country with an interest in accreditation and simulation to examine a draft benchmarking tool created by WMC HIEC and to determine a framework with which to underpin the benchmarking tool.
