North East and North Cumbria apply to become an Academic Health Science Network

In response to the recent announcement by the Department of Health to create 'Academic Health Science Networks (AHSNs)', the North East and North Cumbria have submitted an application to become an AHSN.

Innovative Technologies

The Innovative Technology theme is defined by products and relationships which facilitate the spread of opportunities for providing and delivering care in more innovative ways through the use of technological advances.

Phase 1
HIEC NE is currently working with ActiveAge and is reviewing the iTAPP project, both of which have been placed in the Innovative Technology theme.

Phase 2
As a result of the recent funding call, HIEC NE will also be supporting a further project under this theme as part of Phase 2.

The ‘hi-way’ is an online platform for commissioners, clinicians, service users and their families to improve the care management of people with substance abuse problems, led by local business, Curb Office Ltd.
