Active Age

Active Age

ActiveAge is a collaborative action research programme that explores the impact and needs of an increasing ageing population and how information and communication technologies (ICT) innovation can provide solutions to meet these needs. The nature of the changing demographic across the UK and Europe will challenge us to consider how people can continue to live healthy, independent, lives within the home, community and work. This will encompass issues such as the functionality of the home; how design can maximise mobility; flexible and supportive working practices that embrace and retain the experience and skills of an ageing workforce; and the way public services are delivered in order to promote wellbeing.

HIEC NE has become a partner of the ActiveAge consortium to join a growing number of local, regional, national and international organisations committed to the advancement and development of age-related solutions and technologies.

As a member of ActiveAge, HIEC NE will have access to a wide range of age-related knowledge, skills and expertise, and will be enabled to develop relationships with fellow partners to ensure that identified age specific health and social needs are effectively matched with innovative solutions across the region.
